RetailMeNot Spring Fashion Challenge

I am so excited to be a part of the RetailMeNot spring fashion challenge! When I was presented with the opportunity I was thrilled because I love the idea of creating a head to toe look for under $100. I am proud of the fact that I am a very thrifty gal, I love getting the most bang for my buck and I don't think you have to spend a fortune to look stylish.  Although I'm used to scouring clearance racks, couponing was completely new to me. RetailMeNot is the largest online coupon a site, so being armed with their mobile ap while shopping allowed me to score all the savings I needed to create a chic spring look for under $100 using a giftcard that they generously provided to all of the 9 contestants.
Before heading out to shop I did some online research to see what the stores had on sale.  My first stop was Old Navy, because I knew I could score trendy items for a fraction of their retail price. I found the perfect neon blouse on clearance for $8.49 and a floral print cardigan for only $6.47. I then used the RetailMeNot code ONSAVENOW to get an additional 15% leaving me at a grand total of $12.72 for my first two items. After buying the top portion of my outfit, I knew I wanted to create a ladylike meets preppy look that would be perfect for shopping, a day at the office, or brunch with girlfriends. I was on the hunt for the perfect colored pants when I stumbled upon these Kelly green cuties at Express. I spotted them on clearance for $39.99 and I was a little concerned that I might have to leave them behind. I quickly consulted my RetailMeNot mobile ap only to realize that there was an additional 30% off clearance items, bringing my new total to $27.99.
Finally, I decided to face the biggest challenge of all - shoes and a bag. I head straight to Target knowing that I had seen some chic and trendy pieces at great price points. I spotted this pair of silver pumps and knew they were the perfect statement shoe, but the price? They were on sale for a cool $14.98 and then out of the corner of my eye I saw the perfect kelly green faux-croc clutch on sale for $9.98. I took a moment to breathe a long sigh of relief before going into accessories mode. I wanted to save jewelry for last because although I know it's important in an outfit, I had to make sure that I had room in the budget. With a little over $35 to spend I knew that I could find the perfect statement piece. I quickly ducked into Macy's where I discovered a sparkly statement necklace. It was on clearance for $23.27 plus an additional 25% off using my RetailMeNot mobile ap. This brought the new total to $17.45. Lastly, before calling it quits, I scooped up a pack of stud earrings at H&M for $5.95 plus an additional 20% off bringing the total to $4.76.
Now that I am familiar with RetailMeNot I'll definitely be using their site again. You can also score great deals on a budget and even get discount alerts while shopping at your favorite stores if you sign up here. A footwear photo-op with MelaneeCrystalMelissa, and Jamie.
At the cocktail party we had the chance to chat with the lovely Drew Barrymore about her new makeup line Flower Beauty. And it was great finally meeting fashion bloggers Brittany of The B Soup and Ashley of Side Smile Style.
Stopping for  quick picture with Melanee, Crystal, and Joo before the opening seminar. The backdrop brought back memories of senior prom.

A few weeks ago I attended the Lucky Fabb conference in LA and I shared my Day 2 look with you. Today I wanted to share my Day 1 look and a few of my favorite Instagram shots from the conference. I wanted something that was fun and visually interesting so I paired an embellished sheath dress with a zig zag print blazer. Lucky's Fashion and Beauty Blogger conference is really a great experience because you are in a room full of hundreds of other people who totally get what it's like to be a fashion blogger. You share the same passion for styling and picture taking and it's really a unique experience to be able to meet the girls who you normally only see online. Also, during the conference there were informative seminars and hands-on breakout sessions that talked all about blogging. It was a long two days but it was definitely a worthwhile experience. If you get the chance to attend I would definitely recommend it!

Modern Suiting

Jacket: BCBG Max Azria, Shirt: Chaser Brand, Pants: Forever 21 (similar here) Necklace: Forever 21 (old), Belt: H&M, Bracelets: Forever 21, Charming Charlie, & Gifted, Earrings: J Crew (also loving this pair), Watch: Michael Kors, Shoes: Sam Edelman (on sale in nude here), Bag: Prada

Today I created my own suit by pairing my royal blue jacket with royal blue pants. I put a fun twist on the look by adding a printed t-shirt, a statement necklace, and spiked pumps. You'll have to forgive my recent monochromatic look obsession. I'm in love.

On another note, I'll be leaving for New Orleans tomorrow and I'm so excited to experience this wonderful city for the fist time! Be sure to follow along on Twitter and Instagram for a little peek into my trip.

Spring Layers

Blazer: Forever 21, Chambray: Thrifted In Paris, Scarf: Thrifted, Pants: Jigsaw London c/o (and in other colors here),  Earrings: H&M, Ring: Cache, Watch: Michael Kors, Bracelet: Gifted & IN PINK c/o, Shoes: BCBG Generation, Bag: Louis Vuitton

Today I decided to dress up my colored jeans by pairing them with a crisp white blazer, a chambray shirt, and a floral print scarf. Wearing light layers keeps me two steps ahead of any finicky weather that spring decides to throw my way.

Today when I slipped on this little striped dress I immediately thought about my pretty polka dot scarf. They share the same colors and are perfect for a tone on tone look. Something Blue

Shirt: Custom Men's, Vest: J Crew Factory, Skirt: Vintage via The Loved One,Sunnies: Betsey Johnson, Earrings: Tacori c/o Bracelet: Gifted, Watch: Michael Kors, Necklace: Nina Shoes c/o, Bag: Valeria Smith, Shoes: Steve Madden (and available in other colors here) Lipstick: Mac "Russian Red"

This past weekend I did some much-needed vintage shopping at one of my favorite little boutiques in Pasadena. Among my many new treasures was this little blue skirt. Its silky texture and interesting pattern made me know right away that it was a must-have. I paired it with a white collared button down and a sweater vest to give it a polished look. I think it's really important to pair vintage items with more modern ones to keep your outfit from looking dated. There are some exceptions to this rule, but it's a good one to remember in order to keep yourself from looking like you just stepped off the set of a period piece.

I hope you have had a fantastic week! Cheers to Friday!

Spring Suiting: Red on Red

Blazer: Kay Unger, Skirt: Kay Unger, Shirt: ASOS (dress worn as shirt), Necklaces: Via Fairfax & London Flea Markets, Clutch: Vintage, Watch: Michael Kors, Earrings: H&M, Shoes: Christian Louboutin

I can honestly say that I've never met a matchy matchy skirt suit that I didn't like. Today I stuck to a red on red color palette adding in layered gold necklaces, a nude clutch, and camel peep toes.  I don't know about you, but getting all dressed up always makes for a better day!

A Nod To Mod

Dress: Alfani via Macy's (loving this little mod dress), Top: Via Ross,  Necklaces: Pearls Gifted, Bib Necklace: Forever 21 (loving this floral bib necklace), Earrings: H&M, Watch: Kessaris Quartz, Shoes: Frederick's c/o, Bag: Rebecca Minkoff c/o Covet Fashion, Lipstick: Lancome "Wannabe", Nails: OPI "Pinking of You"

Today I decided to feature two of my favorite trends of the moment. Mod fashion and black and white. I love the simplicity of black and white ensembles because they allow you to play with prints and add pops of color in unexpected places like with a bold lip and a great bag. I paired my mod sweater dress with a tailored top that has a bit of a vintage feel to give it a more structured look.

Also, today I'm debuting my new Rebecca Minkoff Bag that I won at the Covet Fashion challenge during Lucky Fabb! We were asked to style a virtual mannequin using the soon-to-launch Covet Fashion ap and my look won the grand prize! You can't even imagine how surprised and excited I was! The prize consisted of this bag, an ipad mini, and a bunch of other great goodies. Just thinking about it makes me excited all over again.

I hope you are having a great week so far!

Floral Frock

Dress: Anthropologie (old) similar here, Earrings: Via Fashion Of Echo boutique, Shoes: J Crew also loving these options here and here, Bracelets: Charming Charlie & Gifted, Watch: Michael Kors, Bag: Vintage

As much as I love layering and putting together outfits with lots of pretty pieces. Sometimes I like the ease of just slipping on a pretty dress. This little floral frock was perfect for a sunny day of strolling this past weekend. Usually I run away screaming in fear at the sight of a drop waist (they tend to make busty girls look larger) but for some reason this one was an exception. I can easily see this being my go-to summer uniform.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Chic Spring Staple: Blush Colored Blouse

Outifit 1 details here, Outfit 2 details: Jacket: Forever 21, Blouse: J Crew, Shorts: Forever 21, Belt: ASOS, Bag: Vintage, Bracelet: Charming Charlie, Watch: Michael Kors, Necklace: Gifted, Shoes: Sole Society, Outfit 3 details here
Blouse on sale here and here
I have always been a huge fan of a good silk blouse. Lately I've been especially fond of this blush option. It is the perfect color to pair with blue and it adds a feminine touch to any outfit. I created three looks using this lovely spring staple: Ladylike, with polka dots and a structured blazer. Sporty, with a printed blazer and tailored shorts. And casual chic, with a mint colored peplum and a matching statement necklace.

What's your favorite spring staple?
