Camel & Red

Coat: Vintage (Petite Sophisticate), Scarf: Via Fairfax Flea, Shirt: Custom Mens, Earrings: Vintage, Sunnies: Marc Jacobs, Watch: Michael Kors, Bag: Vintage, Pants: H&M (old), Shoes: Christian Louboutin

A camel colored coat is a great wardrobe staple, and it happens to be one of my favorite neutral colors.  It's incredibly versatile and yet I always love to pair it with red. I've noticed that I have go-to color pairings. I often pair yellow with navy blue, hot pink with baby blue, and camel with red! Just a little something I've learned about myself since creating this blog. Today's look was a bit menswear inspired until I decided to slip on some sky-high peep toes. Juxtaposition.

Thanks so much for reading and don't forget there is still time to enter my bag giveaway! The TWO winners will be announced this Saturday so be sure to check back!

Fancy Pants

Cape Jacket: Vintage, Chambray Shirt: Thrifted in Paris, Necklace: Christmas Gift, Pants: H&M, Watch: Michael Kors, Bracelets: Charlotte Russe, Bag: Michael by Michael Kors, Earrings: H&M, Shoes: Charles David

I hope you had a very merry Christmas! Yesterday, I hosted my very first Christmas dinner. Since I go back east to visit my family for Thanksgiving it often leaves me missing my family for Christmas, so this year my sister, and a few of my dearest friends and I all got together to have our own  dinner.  It's for all of us who's families are far away. It was a wonderful day filled with love, laughter, and a bunch of delicious food. I'm so thankful for my girlfriends who are much like family.

On another note, I bought these fancy pants about a month ago and haven't gotten around to wearing them. Today the inspiration bug bit me and I decided to pair them with a chambray shirt, a pretty vintage cape coat, and a fabulous new statement necklace that I got (yesterday) for Christmas from one of my besties. This look kept me warm and yet I still felt kind of sparkly. I love when that happens.

What did you do for the holiday? Thanks so much for reading!

Black & Blue

Blouse: Via Marshall's, Skirt: Lulu's, Watch: Kessaris Quartz, Earrings: Forever 21, Jacket: Eurochic Boutique (an ebay store selling brand new items that usually ship from China), Clutch: Vintage (fairfax flea market), Shoe: Christian Louboutin
Photos by: Emma K Studio

Today I decided to showcase a little bit more of a casual holiday party look (remember my other party looks here and here). Not every holiday party is cocktail attire or a formal affair. Some are casual and you can wear anything you want. I decided to keep things glamorous by pairing a royal blue, bow blouse with a black full skirt. I added a red lip, and a matching clutch for a pop or color and some sparkly earrings for a bit of shine. This outfit is also great for an office party! Simply swap out the peep toes for a pointed pump and add opaque black tights!

As always, If you enjoy reading I would love for you to subscribe, it's free and easy just enter your e-mail address here. Thank you all so much for the amazing support, it means so much to me!

Happy Holidays!

Party Dressed

Dress: Vintage (altered) via The Loved One, Clutch: Charming Charlie, Earrings: ASOS, Bracelets: Charming Charlie, Shoes: Ivanka Trump

This weekend has been filled with holiday parties and Christmas cheer. I'm so sorry that I have been a little slow on blogging lately. Between being out of commission with a cold, and preparing and hosting my own party this past Friday night, I haven't had a moment  to spare. However, I have been dying to share my next perfect holiday party look with you! If you are a regular reader of A Keene Sense of Style, then you know I love all things vintage. So when I saw this perfect full-skirted red dress I had to buy it despite it's imperfections. It needed a few small repairs and to be taken in, but it's nothing my tailor couldn't handle. This look is perfect for any formal affair. And yes, I twirled around all night.

I hope you are having a fantastic weekend!

Impractical Matters

Sweater: J Crew, Skirt: BCBG Max Azria, Earrings: H&M, Necklace & Rings: Cache, Bracelets: Charlotte Russe, Clutch: Vintage, Shoes: B Brian Atwood
Photos by: Emma K Studio

Today's look is comfort meets glamour. I'm sure you've noticed that I have been away from the blogosphere for a few days and you'll have to forgive me. I have been battling a not so pretty cold, but today I decided to brave the elements, and plus, getting all dressed up always makes me feel better. I paired a cozy sweater with a gorgeous green maxi skirt, and my most impractical heels. When I first laid eyes on these gorgeous purple shoes I knew that they needed a spot in my closet. Although they aren't practical, or versatile, which is often one of my criteria when shopping, I purchased them anyways because I find them to be like a work of art.

Do you have any impractical wardrobe pieces that you just had to have? Thanks so much for reading!

Navy, Coral, & Gold

Blazer: H&M, Cami: Nordstrom Rack, Belt: Zara, Skirt: J Crew, Necklace: Charlotte Russe, Earrings: H&M, Bag: Michael by Michael Kors, Watch: Michael Kors, Bracelet: Gifted, Shoes: BCBG Generation
Photos by Emma K Studio

The fact that pencil skirts are typically so serious makes it fun to sometimes mix things up by getting one in a great, graphic print. I decided to pair mine with pretty gold accessories and a coral statement necklace. I topped it all off with a classic navy blue, gold-button blazer to keep it from looking too trendy.

Happy Monday!

Party Fever

Dress: ASOS, Coat: Via Spiga, Gloves, Loemans, Small Ring: Cache, Big Ring & Earrings: Forever 21, Bag: Gianni Bernini, Shoes: Frederick's
 Photos by Emma K Studio

Now that it's finally December I'm sure everyone has a ton of holiday parties to attend.  I for one, love them, you get to mix and mingle with old friends and make new ones. You get to put on a pretty dress and a few sparkles and go out on the town. I mean, what's not to love? Since I'm having holiday party fever I'm going to share a holiday party look with you every Friday until Christmas! Don't have any to attend? That's okay most of these looks are perfect for a special date night too. In this look I decided to keep things pretty simple by letting this lovely flowing dress and faux fur jacket take center stage. Although I try to stay away from black, because it tends to get a little boring, the cut of this one makes it anything but.

I hope you have a great weekend!

Silver Suiting

Blazer: J Crew, Shirt: Banana Republic, Skirt: Vintage (tailored), Bag: Vintage, Belt: ASOS, Watch: Michael Kors, Bracelet: Gifted, Diamond Ring: Gifted, Ring 2: Cache, Shoes: Isaac Mizrahi

Today I created a chic wear-to-work look around this pretty silver brocade jacket. As you may already know, brocade is having a major moment. To keep this from looking too trendy I paired it with a crisp button up and a skirt in a similar tone. If you want the blazer to make more of a statement, pair it with a bold color like mustard or teal!

On another note, I thought I would share with you a little inside scoop! One of my favorite shoe brands, Charles David (seen here, here, & here) is having a seriously fabulous sale starting tomorrow! It's the perfect time to score fabulous discounts. I don't know about you, but I love a good bargain. It's in stores only so click here to find a store near you!

Be sure to share any wonderful sales that you know of in the comments section. We bargainistas have to stick together!

Orange & Green

Jacket: BCBG Max Azria, Dress: ASOS, Belt: Vintage, Earrings: H&M, Watch: Michael Kors, Bracelets: Gifted & Charlotte Russe, Sunnies: No Name Brand, Bag: Alfani,  Ring: Cache, Shoes: Charles David

Today when I put on this dress I couldn't help but think of the lovely Victoria Beckham. She is the queen of the pencil dress and she wears them oh-so-well. I especially love the neckline on this one. Instead of taking my usual route and pairing it with a statement necklace, I decided to add this pretty vintage, green belt.

I hope you are having a great week so far! Thanks for reading.
